Canada at Its Weakest: The Consequences of Trudeau’s Leadership from 2015 to 2024

Canada has become more dangerous than it has ever been, not solely due to changes in crime statistics but because of a systemic weakening of the nation’s foundational metrics under Prime Minister Trudeau and the Liberal Party from 2015 to 2024. This decline spans several critical areas, creating vulnerabilities that compound both internally and externally.

Firstly, while crime rates provide a measurable indicator of safety, they only capture a portion of the broader issue. Other indicatorssuch as national security readiness, border control effectiveness, economic resilience, and social cohesion have also deteriorated. For example, the reduction in CBSA officers and declining defense capabilities have left Canada less prepared to address international threats, including foreign interference and transnational organized crime.

Additionally, diminished support for law enforcement and judicial reforms that favour leniency have emboldened criminal activity and eroded public trust in the justice system.

Secondly, economic policies that prioritize asset sectors over productivity sectors, coupled with rising taxation and unsustainable spending, have weakened the financial foundation of the nation. This has discouraged foreign investment in productive industries, reduced innovation, and left Canada lagging in areas like technological development and industrial capacityboth critical for long-term national security and economic strength.

Furthermore, Canada’s diplomatic posture under PM Trudeau has often been characterized as conciliatory or overly idealistic, which has signalled weakness to international actors. This has invited external entities including nations, corporations, and ideological institutions to exploit Canada’s vulnerabilities. Examples include increasing concerns about foreign interference in Canadian elections, allegations of espionage, and the strategic acquisition of Canadian resources by foreign interests. These dynamics expose the country to risks that a stronger, more strategically governed Canada might have avoided.

Finally, social and cultural policies under the Trudeau administration have fostered division rather than unity, weakening the social fabric. High immigration rates without corresponding integration strategies have strained infrastructure and social services, while censorship policies have curtailed free discourse, creating an atmosphere where dissent is stifled rather than addressed constructively. These elements contribute to internal instability, further compounding external vulnerabilities.

In summary, our observation is correct: the dangers facing Canada today extend far beyond crime statistics. The cumulative effects of weakened institutional, economic, and social metrics have left the nation exposed to both domestic and international threats. This situation represents the most precarious period in recent history, not only due to the actions of adversarial groups but also because of deliberate policy choices that have diminished Canada’s strength, resilience, and sovereignty.
